Why incoming SHS students must choose Academic track?

Senior High School aims to prepare students before entering college, equipping them with the global skills, competencies, and knowledge needed to achieve successful career paths in the future.

For Grade 10 completers, it means embarking on a new academic journey. It may seem intimidating at first, especially as you decide which strand to take or which school to enroll in, but finding the right track and strand that matches your strengths and skills will surely help ease your nerves to get you going.

An academic track defines a set of possible course selections available to a specific group of students. They are analogous to the colored course selection sheets common in a paper-based course selection process. Define an academic track and courses that students can or must complete when assigned to that track.

The Academic track has four strands: Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM); Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS); and General Academic (GAS). Which each of them has a specialized subjects.

Choosing these tracks in Senior High makes them look forward to go to college or what courses do they want to pursue in the future. This tracks will prepare the young adults to face the reality, the seriousness in this world and the true meaning of success. STEM strand is under the academic track. I choose it because it’s connected to what I want in college to pursue or what course I want to achieve, which is Nursing and Engineering. STEM Teaches Critical Thinking and Innovation The focus on logical thought processes and problem-solving allows students to develop mental habits that will help them succeed in any field. STEM coursework challenges students to think critically and come up with their own solutions. That’s why I choose it. It’s up to the student what track they want to.
